Some discoveries that happened in September

Do you know the difference between insulin and insulit? Insulin is a hormone that regulates sugar in our blood. On September 7, 1978, scientists used genetic engineering to produce insulin. Insulit is a sound absorbing material. In fact, it's the first sound absorbing material to be used in buildings. It was patented on September 14, 1915. Do you like watching movies? Celluloid photographic film, which is used to make movies, was patented on September 13, 1898.

The first trans-Atlantic telephone cable system began operating on August 25, 1956. The answering machine was invented on September 27,1950.

The first FORTRAN computer program ran on September 20, 1954.

Dirigibles are hardly used these days, but when they appeared, they were the first really well-powered and controlled means of flight. The dirigible was demonstrated as such on September 24, 1852.
