Motherhood

Motherhood

One of our street dogs feeding its pups on the roadside near our home. The picture was shot few months back and the pups were well grown now to turn more than a dozen stray dogs in our street. Couple of pups were taken by some to grow and the remaining joined with the existing dogs. When we shifted to this street in 2015 there were few dogs, but now has grown into a gang and sometime it does quite annoy at nights. Having a pup at home it’s not possible to keep away the disturbance and when one starts to bark the others join in barking war and sometime dad have to shoo them away at night.

Last year, the same dog gave birth to 7 pups and no action has been taken to control the growth of dogs in our street. Two days back I saw couple of ladies feeding the many dogs with biscuits at the street end and one was fondly caressing the little ones, but I wonder do they really care about the numbers being increased? Only that day I saw all the dogs at a place and the numbers really put me awe.

  1. Hello, love the cute dog and her pups. It is just so sad to see there are more strays dogs on the streets. I am sure it is not good to have the dogs running wild in gangs. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday! Wishing you a happy weekend!

  5. She looks happy with her pups, but dogs are supposed to be taken care of by people, I believe. Sad...I hope she does ok and her babies too.

  6. I can understand how stray dogs could cause problems. It's too bad that they live on the street like that.

  7. Sometimes it becomes difficult to walk in the street during late nights, but I am not perturbed by dogs' presence and they also don't mind me among them. Somehow me and dogs share a cordial relationship :)

  8. Our street also have got many dogs but nearly all of them are sterilized. A lady in our complex feeds them with milk and dog food. They seem to be good dogs. It is long tome since I have seen pups.

Your picture is lovely! She looks at the camera so proudly!

  9. Such a lovely picture, I am always amazed to see the motherhood in the animal kingdom just like in humans. Good to know people take care of dogs though I believe a bit more awareness is required on how their population can be controlled or checked. I hope they get safe homes to spend their life eventually.

  10. 7 is too big a number, if that continues probably there will be more dogs than humans on your street!

The administration should definitely take an action to control their growth or deal with it in the aftermath.

  12. If only there was a group that banned together to get them spayed...it would reduce the number.

  14. The mother dogs would always love their pups and not abandon them. It is often the cruelty of humans that separated them all. This is a sad world indeed today with so much wars happening and creating so much homeless and lives being lost.
