Chennai Sangamam week!!

Chennai Sangamam festival, aptly called Namma Theru Vizha (Our Street Festival) was inaugurated by chief minister M.Karunanidhi in the IIT open stadium on last Tuesday. Like the December month musical pageantry and some like Dhurga festivals in kolkatha. Some think that haven’t happens before like how the city is celebrating this Chennai Sangamam which was organized by poet Kanimozhi with Tamil center constitution.

It’s by the tourist department to give hand to this festival to create awareness about our traditional arts and artists among chennai people to decrease the relation between city people and rural artists. This festival started on Tuesday by 6pm in IIT campus; by continue of rural arts, songs, dance and much more programs. This festival would be ending today by 6.pm at Elliot Beach after the weeklong programs in Parks, beaches, theaters and some important place where people gather. This festival has Miellattam (Peacock dance) Kaliyattam, Mattatam (Bull dance), Karaka attam, Oielattam (grace dance), Puliattam (Tiger dance), Singam attam (Lion Dance), Kattai kaal attam (stick leg dance) and more…

We can deem this Chennai Sangamam is like creating a praise and own courtesy for rural artist between people. Organizers of this festival have decided to conduct it every year. The funds collected by these programs will be used for good service is a solace news. You can get more details here of this Festival. we hope this would bt the first step towards many more big celebrations of our traditional arts and artists. The Tamil enthusiasm would be remit to people and more importantly for our young’s by bringing out arts to streets.

Language of nature and life

Here comes a lovely lyrics about language. It was written by poet Vairamuthu, for Tamil film Mozhi. It has very simple words, and loveable. My most favorite one is: “If we understand the language of hearts, Humans no need a language” that express the true feeling between humans. It’s more awesome if u could listen to this song in Tamil, here I bring it in global language (English) to share how beautiful these lines are.

Wind’s language is sound or music
Flower’s language is color or fragrance
Sea’s language is waves or lather
Love’s language is eyes or lips

If we understand the language of nature
Humans language is no need.
If we understand the language of hearts
Humans no need a language.

Wind has no directions when it blows
Love had no languages when it speaks.
Like speaking words, silence can’t understand
God unawares the words talked my eyes.
To the strolling winds, shape can’t be searched
Love speaking languages, will not restive in vow nests.

If we understand the language of nature
Humans language is no need.
If we understand the language of hearts
Humans no need a language.

Sky speaking speech comes out as drops
Rainbows speech comes out as colors.
When truth comes dumbness, tears becomes language
Womanhood comes dumbness, modesty becomes language.
In the time when sound sleeps, apex stars becomes language
In the wishes sleeping hearts, motion also becomes language.

It’s an emblem of sacrifice or gallantry?

Most of u would have known this emblem, named Schmidt Memorial; it’s on the Elliot Beach in Besant Nagar (Chennai). This is a familiar place to the chennai residents and those who ever seen this emblem in Tamil and other Indian language films and couldn’t been here, but it no need any abandonment to those. This place has been a spot for filmmakers to direct duet songs; fight sequences once, even today some films may took here. For countless chennai and surrounding lovers this is a romantic place to fondling and romance. But in recent times this emblem once looked gorgeous was un maintained and it looks unpleasant. This is not just an emblem with out any reason to built here, it has a gratitude history. It was on the times of British’s rule in India.

This Elliot Beach in Besant nagar was the place for men and women of the British to swim, take sunbath and enjoy. This Elliot was also a very attractive and entertain place for them. Its early morning on December 30, 1930, one British woman was happily swimming in the sea and many surprised to adoring her beauty from the shore.

Suddenly the alleviate of the sea changed, and sea waves were angry and consecutively hissing towards the shore. Whatever the love the sea got with that woman? It pulled her inside the sea. To the extend, those who were singing in bliss and adoring her beauty from the shore couldn’t come forward to help her, thinking that the wave may pull them inside the sea, all where running from that place. Help help the emerging voice from her, haven’t melt anyone’s mind. But on that time a Dutch sailor rushed to the shore hearing her uproar. Without any little anxiety about his life, he swim against the hissing waves and after a hard struggle he save the women, who was immerse in the sea. At the same time he further saved more people from the waves, but the angry waves took that great hero away. The sailor who saved those who were non-connection to him was named Karl Schmidt.
Its ungrateful world!! That day non-paid concerned homage to that great hero. Next day is December 31st the New Year party and celebration was in high in chennai. Every one was singing, dancing and enjoying the night. To this celebration the women who escape from the waves was also present. She dint have any sense (feeling) from her mind about the death of hero who lose his life to save her last day. She was dancing, jumping, laughing and enjoying, that shows nothing has happened. After some time, the governor comes to join in the celebration. Some people introduced this women to him, that she was the person escaped her life and explained the incident.

The good mind governor got angry on her, and he also not like to see her face who dint have any sense about the scarified life of the hero. This incident of the hero’s sacrifice to an incoherent woman melted the governor’s mind and he refused the party and gone. That great hero’s memories should be remember always, and the future lineages should always give homage, so with this thought the next day the governor built this circle emblem to doing a home to his brave action and the sacrifice. Is this an emblem of sacrifice? or an emblem of gallantry?………… It’s a gallantry emblem for sacrifice!!

Now the stage of this emblem was half destroyed, and looks very unpleasant. Most of them who have visited this Elliot beach don’t know the story behind this emblem. The 76-year-old structure should be saved before it fully destroys. Now a hope has risen by the recent announcement by government to beautify the Beaches, and wish the old relish govt. would rebuild the destroyed parts of the structure. In chennai this is one of the important tourist beach next to marina the world second longest beach.

Photos took from chennai.metblogs.com
Here the satellite pic of that place.

Disagree on the justice

A small tour arranged by university, it’s a happy journey with mates, totally fun filled movement. Sudden force collapses everything, not only the fun, the dreams, and the wishes with their lives.

Fury gang of political background, with hard stones and roller sticks. Attempt to close the students with bus; those were belonging to the Indian backbone. Students try to save their lives, except three souls to leave their life.

Burning vehicle, screaming sound, crying young’s to save their dears. It’s not a burning matchstick to blow, its powerful fuel bombs. Talents buried by violent gang, human madness game on the girls. Smiles where freeze, to the parents, to see their children as a charcoal log.

There were cameras to save the incident, but we have no cameras to save their lives. Why this anger on the innocents, to show their private defiance. Came judgment after 7 wonder years, with an order to take their lives. Higher appeal comes as a honey to the bees, to pull the case for more years.

This post is about this. I disagree with the capital punishment, which was not a solution to this incident. The punishment must be severe that must realize the fault they done for those young souls, whom where not related to their anger.

Computer and me

Watched the Kadhalar Thinam (Lovers Day) for just few minutes last night. And i should tell this film would be one of my inspirations on Computer. Here I will share my experience of how I introduced to computers. I was touch with computer and lessons from my 3rd STD. Those days, for one year we were just went through reading the books and listening to teacher. After my 4th STD we were allowed to see computers in first time in my life that was black and white. Our teacher takes us to the air-conditioned computer room, which has 3 computers. That time I haven’t think that these machines are going to rule the world.

For me going to computer room was enjoyable, not only for the cool temperature, to watch the games miss play on the computer. Miss play bricks joining, a game like prince and shooting. Rarely some students get chance to play, bad luck I couldn’t get one chance. It continues only till my 5th std, in my new school I got first time to touch and operate the computer. They had only one and it too was black and white, and that too was in principal room. Weekly ones we visit the room, they leave us to type in word pad and play games. After few months, they brought 5 new color computers, now we got much time to spent on the computer, leaving 2 or 3 students for one computer.

Here we tried our hands on paint, and on exam times they tell us to draw some thing. First time handling the mouse, it’s non-easy to draw some thing, so we use the line option to draw a hut, to surprise hut was easiest one for every one. It continues for 2 years, in that times of recede in my walking hesitate me to visit the room, but with help of my class mates I managed to go and play with the system. Here I should thank my best friend udhyan to be very care about me till I go and come to our class. In that time the film Kadhalar dhinam (Valentiens Day) released and the animation videos by computer kids and the chatting via the net brings interest on using computer. Dreams and wishes on the computer was increased, but in a situation to left the school I miss the opportunity to play on the system, but that time I was not more aware about the computer world.

In 2000 end while I was talking with my cousin uncle, I said my wish about computer. He was having a DTP center and well know about the computers, he recommend to my dad about the computer and explain its uses. After discussing with uncle and the computer assemble companies we brought a PC, with my little knowledge and with the school experience I started to work on it. Those days i used to play game and paint. After few days we got a master to teach us the basic programs, what the funniest is I have worked in computer for 3 years in school, but I don’t know how to switch off. My cousin uncle gives me idea to learn the DTP related programs, like CorelDraw, Photoshop and PageMaker in need if I can work from home. But the person who teaches me was not too good on it, so I learn very little. Only in 2003 I learn the 3 programs well, with that I am just doing greetings, some graphic work and the PageMaker helps me now to my Desktop works for the Kalakshetra Publication. That’s how I introduced to this big world of Computers.

Thamirabarani (copper star)!

I got chance to watch Thamirabarani (Tamil film) in the pongal release movies at Drive-In Theater. Thamirabarani is a simple story of the enmity between two big families in Tuticorin (A district in Tamil Nadu). As usual the hero and heroine of the both family fell in love and how there love joins the families would be remain. Its Hari film, hari always gives good movies, which would be commercial with all kinds like love, action, sentiments, comedy…. can watch with families. What’s the biggest strength for copper star was the fast and pungent screenplay and the climax, non scene their to make us bore.

Vishal with full action hero, this film would be an important in his carrier. His action sequences are brave and energetic. First time in comedy he shows a star position like Rajini and Vijay who does comedy role in their films. Newcomer Banu acts like an experienced actor, her attractive smiles with homely looks are very sweet. She has face looking like Pandavar Bhumi heroine. The state kerala becomes the dream factory for our Tamil fans, to give beautiful heroines. In her recent interview she was very brave to answer for all questions, even sing and dance in small screen, not like other heroine’s who give excuse.

I liked the actors choose for the characters, but the feel of deep love (pasam) is missing between brother (prabhu) and sister (rohini), nephew (vishal) and Uncle (prabu). Nasser can only do that role; Nadhiya’s character was described as powerful, but in the screen it’s powerless. In all his films director never forgets to give chance to Aruva (knives), here the Aruva culture is wide stretched and the violence is little more. The comedy by Kanja Karuppu (Muthu) is nice, his struggle with the same name to the dog and him; linking the rivers was good ones. The turning point in the island, and the photo of the Vishal and Banu describing as prostitute by the paper has comes naturally with the story, and expect us to know what’s going to happen. What’s new in the story was the two own brothers of the opposite family were supportive to the Hero’s family and depart from the collision trend.

The Nellai Tamil dialogue, which I loved to hear, was very nice in the film. V.T.Vijayan’s picturesque of the Tuticorin and in the songs the camera gives new views. Two songs are nice to watch one was the remix of a popular devotional song with attractive dance was superb and the melodies one Varthai onenu varthai onenu… was poetical. I like the theme of the story that said: in the fights between families, who is winning was not important, but non-should defeat. This concept not only befit families, this can also create a healthy society.

Final judgment will give hand?

Its not month's or a year problem, it’s century’s complication. Continues of dialogue for above100 years. After going to arbitrator council, we expected for 16 years. Now finally the Judgment for the Cauvery issue has released.

Interim judgments of releasing 205 tmc in 1991 for Tamil Nadu, breaks outs a big violence’s in our friendly neighbor state Karnataka. Millions of things lose, and the lose of lives fear us its our neighboring state or an neighbor country. Compare to the interim order, the final judgment of releasing water for Tamil Nadu has reduced as 192 tmc.

Now again the problem has climbed the tree, Karnataka expressed great sin on the judgment and said the judgment of the arbitrator council was not acceptable. The farmers of the southern districts of Karnataka involving in agitate and roadblocks to oppose the judgment. Sixteen thousand advocates have conduct fighting before the governor house against the judgment. In this situation the govt has announced a case against the ruling. Now the matter goes serious, the export and import between the two states has totally restrained. Thousands of tankers and buses from Tamil Nadu where banned to enter inside Karnataka; the public were struggling what to do; vehicles convergent on the boarders creates heavy traffic jams.

All politicians in Tamil Nadu express different statements about the order. We had waited and still waiting for the permanent solution for this problem. Now the order has comes practice for us, before any other steps taken by the Karnataka to stop the order, the central government should take a good conclude for the millions of farmers who live with the hope of the Cauvery River. The politicians of Tamil Nadu should leave accusing each other’s and join hands to urge the center to bring the judgment into force as soon as possible. We are asking our rights peacefully, the water is equal for all. We couldn’t live happily by seeing our neighboring state friends in the drought, so we are not against the farmers in Karnataka. As the same time we also need the water to live, already our farmers are sin; the nature is testing them by drought and floods every year. We always tell that we are all Indian; we have consensus… really are we? When there was no consensus and peace between states (in cauvery issue) then how are we going to move friendly with our neighbor countries and their problems? We, (people of Tamil Nadu) request the Karnataka not to make the peoples problem as a political stunt. When our rights were stopped, it makes the situation worst. We need justice for our 16 years of anticipation.

Kids and Birds

Immigrant customs and traditions have been integrated into many aspects of Bird’s Wedding German culture. A significant example of this is the Sorbian tradition of the Bird's Wedding. This wedding ceremony celebrates the coming spring and the birds' thankfulness the children for feeding them throughout the winter. The night before the ceremony, children set out their plates on their windowsill in hopes of birds bringing them sweets or presents. Held annually on January 25th, the children in elementary schools and kindergartens dress up as various birds with one girl specially dressed as the magpie bride and a boy as the raven bridegroom. And the saucers? Each one will have a magpie-shaped pastry with dancing, singing, and celebration follows.

A statuette, translated as a school cone, is give to children in Germany as they set off for their first day of school. These large decorated cardboard cones are usually given by parents or grandparents and filled with sweets, school supplies, and toys. Above is such a sweet and cute pic form the celebration; u can see Fiance Axel kisses his bride Lea during the birds wedding at a kindergarten in Cottbus, eastern Germany.

Theppam festival & tooth surgery

B287
B288
B289

Late evening mom went to the Theppam Festival in Mylapore Kapaleeshwar Temple Tank, which was conducted on the abut of Thaipusam. This year and last year was this Theppam festival was celebrated grand, compare to few years when the Mylapore tank faces drought. Above pics shows the Theppam floating on the Tank.

The Root canal treatment couldn’t give hand for the infection, so yesterday went on a small surgery in the tooth and gums. It was the pain I haven’t experienced in the last few years. Smiling and laughing makes all happy, but in my case, now, if smile, i feel pain. I can’t be without smiling for more times, I struggle to control it now. I thought they will close the root and leave, but the infection makes to cut the tissue and stitches. I think it may take few days to go back to normal, even talking, reading and eating makes difficult.

My tooth pain history :D

Hum… the weeklong toothache was better now after undergoing the root canal treatment. Thought it must be a normal pain will go in a day. But I guessed it right that must be a reflex of that 11 years incident. One evening my brother and me was riding cycle in out next street, we were going doubles by sharing that single seat of the cycle. We were turning that turn, suddenly a car comes before us, and the place was very slide so left balance and both fell down. I was sitting in front, so my front tooth got hurt and the whole tooth comes out of the gum. I was very feared how to show my teeth to the mom, but I got good scold from her that day and arrived to the near dentist. My eyes were wet in the pain fear.

It was half an hour waited for the dentist and I was in fear that time was going, can they fix my tooth. They inject my gum and tied the tooth with steel wire. I couldn’t forget the pain so easily, when ever I get any symptoms on the tooth’s, I remember that pain. After two three X-rays, a deep breath that it has setup. But that time the dentist forget to do this root canal, so some damage has take place in the root of the tooth and it affect were touched with its side tooth. Last evening I visit dentist and did root canal, they have drilled my both tooth and inject medicine and will again visit in two days to know further treatment.

18th century model Gotheborg Ship in Chennai

Gotheborg
Gotheborg,
originally uploaded by Jeevan Kumar.
The ship that was designed like the 18th century’s submerged ship, Sweden’s Gotheborg is arriving chennai tomorrow (31st January).

About the ship

The 18th century’s Gotheborg ship that floats on the sea was shining as a biggest cargo ship that belongs to Sweden. Not only through the trade, even Gotheborg was served to improve the culture and it also holds all miscellaneous art structures and display as a vault. This ship was involved in an accident and submerged in September1745, when it was carrying Tea and Porcelain things from China. After that Sweden started to design a ship like Gotheborg. As per Gothperk ship was designed from 1986 to 1992 with most antique objects and by the time it provides modern facilities and security lay outs.

Gotheborg that got life again, looks like the mast ship that comes in the old Tamil film Aairathil Oruvan. We can tell this ship displays the same style with little modernization. Gotheborg, which horrific at many people whom eagerly seen in many countries, was going to rob our (people of chennai) eyes from tomorrow. Sweden’s Gotheborg has comes by passing five continents; after traveling through Spain, Brazil, Australia, it departed from Singapore on 14th and reach chennai harbor on 31st after its 15-day travel. This ship would be welcomed by governor SS Barnala, Sweden deputy PM Mautolopsun and ship minister T.R.Balu. The ship is expected to stay in chennai for 11 days. What special about it is, Gotheborg is only coming to chennai in India. From where ever this ship depart, it has a familiar to carry a group of people from the harbor, as per it has actor Revathi, Leptin commander Amit Arvind, tsunami affected fisher men, 2 journalist who were traveling in the ship would involve in cleaning it.

As Gotheborg coming to chennai, a festival called “Sweden comes to Chennai” was going to celebrate for 10 days; that time special programs by Sweden will hold. On Feb 1 a trade program is going to hold and both nations like to discuss on varies department. Continuing that, every day a special program like Jazz musical’s Minta music program, Sweden’s food festival, film festival would be held. Public can view this ship from Feb 3rd -7th from 1 to 9pm. We can also see this sight from Marina beach.

Mattu Pongal Day in Village

B250B258
B253B252

In the recent Pongal days, the most I enjoyed one was Mattu pongal, which I spent in my mom’s aunty village. After my grandpa left all his bulls, years back we dint get change to celebrate the Mattu Pongal. Nowadays my thoughts, interest and wishes on villages and farming have increased, so that would be the reason for me to visit the village on mattu pongal day. I think its not only the farmers to celebrate this mattu pongal, every one who eats rice from the paddy should also celebrate the mattu pongal to thank the cattle’s for their handworks on the earth. Its wonder u know to see a village with green fields, with cattle’s and still alive in the same position till now as I see from years. When it was few km’s from Chennai, when the surrounding places are changing as Engineering collages and IT parks.

B268B264B267B265

It was mid afternoon, when we drive in the dusty old mahabalipuram road in the hot sun. This village is near Thiruporur, one side it was ex-salt pan areas, unfitted for agriculture, and the other side has good soil and water facilities. Mostly we visit to this village in summer times, so the lake would be dry with little water, but to my surprise the lake was filled with water and buffaloes were swimming. When we arrive, the people in the village were preparing their bulls for the Mattu Pongal, with colorful paintings on their horns and the bull carts, with balloons hanging. We spend some times in the fields; the green field was a beautiful scene to adore and the water from the pump set was great.

B270B274
In evening the bulls come to its place where they gather. One my one was took bath by our relatives and their horns were daub my turmeric and kumgumama (crimson powder) kept in his head, tail… new color cord were tied in his neck and mango leafs around its horn, the bulls were very quite with out any wayward. There was this cute white calf, looks very attractive in his bell tied cord; its hairs were very soft, it was pleasant when it runs. Have seen many goats, but this one was special with long ears. The village smell and the evening cool breeze have an awesome sense, I feel it after a long time. The evening was gorgeous as the sky was color of dark pink. When they were preparing to worship, I notice some colorful bull carts with children having fun on traveling in the cart, they were rounding the village. All bulls and plough objects were given camphor adoration and myrrh smoke was shown to it. It was very dark and the camera flash gives problem so the nigh pic was very dark. It went 8 .30 pm in night when we left the village, we had a good dinner in the village; the taste of the Karakulambe was great. More Pictures here

Pongal Day

B238
It’s my wish to celebrate the Pongal in the traditional way, even though we had no way to bring the old style of the pongal, which celebrates, in village sides. This year we (Tamil Nadu) faced a new equality pongal with out seeing the religions all were gather and celebrate. As I said in my recent post most people in cities use the other vessels than sand pot to cook pongal. I had a point that I should not give it, so urged my parents to buy a new sand pot for the pongal, even though we had a old pot, I needed only new ones. Wake up early to do not miss the special programs on TV; the pongal was over flowing from the Pot when the sun was on the top, rushed to click a snap of it.
B241

B243
Placing the pot in the center of the kolam on the opened gateway, it naturally took us to the traditional way, when we showing the camphor adoration to the pongal pot, and the sun; shouting Pongalo Pongal was very warm that we had a best one forever. We also got some support from a neighbor for the equality pongal. The best wishes would be from them, as they feel happy by the way we celebrate it and we also shared the sweets and pongal with them. I felt that in my apartment most don’t likes to share the festivals or the enjoyment with others, except some whom like the one who comes forward interestedly to share the pongal. Now I really miss my old neighbors in my old place who are even ready to put love fight with us for their share in our pongal. How sweet it was!!

The place was very silent, only parents, my grandma and me were presented to worship the sun. My bro was off from this as he was wandering with his friends for the first day ticket for new release films. Even thought it was bore time, I was happy that we are celebrating our festival in good mood.

Bhogi day

The 4 days of Pongal celebrations has end! As I can tell this year I had a best pongal’s forever, my parents agreed with me to celebrate it with my wishes. The Bhogi plan was to wake up early and visit my cousin’s bhogi celebration, but when we reach, he was sleeping and my aunty has burned some thing. I have noticed some Bhogi fire’s near my place and took some pictures, it was funny to click the fire that the kids were asking are u from SunTv. Even though the pollution board and police warned of burning tyre, I saw some used the tyres to burn, but the awareness has helped the people, compare to last years this year the smoke was low and the fog was little. This would be the first time I went to beach early morning after my childhood, the place was very silent, many were going walking and got a good view of sunrise. I should tell I give my mom more stress to draw big Kolam before the gateway, some of my neighbors have gone to their homeland in their cars, so we got much space to put big kolams. I need to share more about my pongal and Mattu pongal, will do it in my next post ok. (click on the pic to see big)

Pongal and Bull Dung!!

Above is my Pongal Pot, which I did two days back with cotton, painting the pot and the paper karumbu (sugar cane), was kept in our showcase.

Thai Pongal(boiling) was a traditional festival of Tamilan’s, which flows (celebrated) during the first four days of Thai Month (mid-January) according to Tamil calendar. Each day refers a special and it calls as Bhogi, Pongal, Mattu (bull) Pongal & Kaanum Pongal. This was my favorite festival always. This was the day we used to thank the Nature, and we can also call this day a new year for our farmers. After the yearlong hard works of plough the soil to make it a good one for cultivate; then seeding the paddy; transplant in to another spacious place and leaving water till it reaches the stage of Harvest, the farmers spent there whole energies to see their paddy are grown well. So to express their happiness by thanking the god they celebrate this Pongal.

The Mattu Pongal is the day to thank the cattle’s, esp. the bulls that helps us to the agriculture. We not only take the energy of bulls, even their dung’s are used for this pongal festival. As it was the Thai first, the next month of the Margazi which was the season for kolam (making a design with rice flour). On this time and on pongal days people used the dissolved bull dung to create a smear before their gateway to draw the kolam. Now days we can only see this smears in the villages of Tamil Nadu, once it was also available to see the smears in chennai some years back. The kolam gets an exquisite when it was put on dung smear floor in rice flour. And it considered auspicious to make the kolams before sunrise, as the Sun God feels welcome before it visit the earth. To bring more attracts to the kolam, a lump of cow dung will places at the center of the kolam and a five petal pumpkin flower will rests on it regarded as a symbol of fertility and an offering of love to the deity.

I have seen some of these incidents near my house at least before 10 years back, the friendly neighbors used to follow this way of putting kolam, some times their would be little fight with others for the bull dung. On the day of Bhogi I noticed many people come to my grandpa house to collect the dung for putting kolam. As we are in the Margazi season, the gateway of my neighbor’s friend’s house would have a thick dung smear floor and as it would be very smooth and our evening hours of sitting, playing and talking with friends will be on that floor, some times even we get scold from the neighbors for braking the dung floor, esp. for leaving tops on that.

It was familiar in villages to cook the pongal, keeping the pot in the middle of the kolam in the dung smear floor with the oven which was daub by the bull dung, some times this pongal was cooked on burning the dried dung cakes. In the villages the people who have mud houses and who already have floors daub by dung for their house, use the bull dung to daub for the Pongal celebration, like how we clean our house with whitewashing the walls. Actually today's situation was, we are missing the real pongal. If we see most of them are cooking the Pongal in Cooker and steel vessels, mostly the people in cities and urban areas. Because of this we miss the real taste of pongal, which prepared in sand pot. Nowadays all of them have gas stoves, so making pongal in firewood’s and dried bull dung have reduced and it also changed the taste. I can’t forget the sweet pongal cooked on the dried dung cake were my mom prepare in the month of Aadi in the Amman Temple. With our forgetting our traditional way of celebrating, at least let we all try to continue with its nature… Wish you all a beautiful pongal with sand pot, sugarcane and more sweets. HAPPY PONGALO PONGAL:)

One of the Greatest Achievement

We did we did…. Today, Indian space technology saw a milestone in its history by the successfully launch of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C7) carrying four satellites at a time to the space, after the lost of India's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F02), on INSAT-4C Mission last year.

In a small island Sriharikota, off the Andhra Pradesh coast, with the backdrop of the shallow backwaters of the Pulicat Lake and the morning clean sky, gave way to the PSLV-C7 to lift off from the first launch pad at 9.23am. In the first time of History India launches 4 satellites, India’s CARTOSAT-2 and Space capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE-1), Indonesia’s LAPAN-TUBSAT and Argentina’s PEHUENSAT-1 into a 635 km high polar orbit. The four satellites have been placed in a polar orbit at an altitude of 637 km with an inclination of 97.9 deg with respect to the equator.

The 44meter tall PSLV has a lift-off mass of 295 tonne. This is the 10th successful flight so far, since 1994. CARTOSAT-2, the twelfth in the Indian Remote Sensing satellite series, is an advanced remote sensing satellite capable of providing scene-specific spot imagery. It will join the other six IRS satellites, which are in service. It carries a panchromatic camera to provide imageries with a spatial resolution of better than one meter and a swath of 9.6 km. The data from the satellite will be used for cartographic applications at cadastral level, urban and rural infrastructure development and management, as well as applications in land information system and geographical information system.

For the First time, India test the Space capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE-1), developed by ISRO’s with 550 kg capsule, intended to demonstrate the technology of an orbiting platform for performing experiments in microgravity conditions that takes India into an elite club of countries that have satellite re-entry technology. This SRI-1 will stay in orbit for between 13 to 30 days and is expected to splash down into the Bay of Bengal for recovery. SRE-1 mission will provide valuable experience in such important fields like navigation, guidance and control during the re-entry phase. Two days before de-orbiting, it will place in a Repetitive Elliptical Orbit. Subsequently, it will be reoriented and deboost rocket is fired to make it reenter the earth’s atmosphere. Close loop guidance system is employed during deboost and coasting phases leading to its recovery. On re-entry, after initial aerodynamic braking, a parachute system will reduce the touch down velocity and will splashdown in the Bay of Bengal, east of Sriharikota coast. A floatation system will keep SRE afloat and enables its recovery.

From this success, India becomes the 4th developed country in Space Technology after the fore front countries of U.S., Russia and China. We have to be proud about our scientists. I congrats and wish them to success in each and every plans.

New beginning for Sania

Sania Mirza the Tennis storm of India that was weaker last year has waked up in a new robust and velocity by beating the fourth seed Maria Kirilenko in the first round of the Moorilla Hobart International tennis tournament by her first win to kicked off her 2007 season on a confident note.

Sania, who entered the singles main draw as a wildcard, ousted world No. 29 Maria Kirilenko to advance the second round on the WTA Tour. The young Indian Icon, who was right now in Australia, was very circumspect about her preparation for this year. Playing in the Asian Hopman cup in India, the Asian Games has meant that her off-season was considerably reduced. She tried to use this as best in working on physical fitness and few more things to the game. Silver medal in Qatar Asian Games 2006 Women's singles final and gold medal in mixed doubles partnering with Leander Paes brings her some hopes and losing to fore front players Martina Hingis in the Kolkata open, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Nadia Petrova are some of her best memorable times in 2006 for the 66th rank holder. Let it be a learning year for the Sania, who was more complete player than two years ago, although she still have a long way to go. I Wish Sania a wonderful and much achievable year!!

Sweet sight!!

In this winter season,
the shaking red flowers near my gold house.
The winter tree, which looks beautiful some months,
with my fav pink color flowers,.
deceit by being dry branches.
Picking the loves once left to sea.

It’s the time for looking girls,
after some long days on Sunday,
A difficult situation to park the cars,
although after a full round,
blessed to park near some good-looking gals.
Beach was filled with heads and food stall lights,
Look like the kite festival has started,
A feeling of entered into an exhibition.

Innocent parents left cousin and me alone
Think like boy would sit quite and listen to music.
Who know? Why I visit shore often!
Winter evening, chill air,
Like the blooming flowers,
A fresh feel.

With disturbing crowds,
and mild music from stereo,
Just got to sight some gals.
To wonder how god has creates them so beautiful,
and guys to adore them.
A cute gal in her blue shirt
and white mine skirt.
A gentle touch from his boyfriend,
dropt his hand in her shoulder,
a cool walk with her.
With little smile in my mind, left the place.

Tamil Songs I liked in 2006

Following are the Tamil film song, which I liked the most in last year 2006. I also linked the videos of the song and wrote reason for why i like the song. To see the songs click on the name of the song which is in pink color. sorry for putting a long post:)

Munbe Vaa En Anba Vaa… from Sillunu Oru Kaadhal was my most favorite song of the year. Gorgeous voice of Shreya Ghoshal was very attracted me to this song! And naresh’s voice was a good pair to it. The soft melodic and romantic tune, which creates a happy feel by Rahman would be a best of the year. The video of this song was another pleasant one with Boomika’s adoring cheek cavity smile, and the drizzling background.

Manjal Veyil Malaiela…. from Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. The songs stats by vennilava velli velli nelava… first felt it would be a soft melody, after few seconds that totally turns to western music, was energetic. It was an enjoyable song from Hariharan after some time. I too have imagine this song like the yellow lights of the sun by the time its 4.30 to 5.pm it flashes through the groups of trees as the green and ripe leaves spill on the ground the people walking in that. I just wonder by the video of clean picturesque of this song, and the background lights are amazing esp. the black sky change as blue and orange colors are so different; the dream city of New York was pleasant to see, actually I expected this type of video for New York nagam song form SOK. Poet Tamarai’s lyrics were beautiful.

Poi Sollaporen Poi Sollaporen…. from Thiruttu Payalae. What attract me in the song are the catchy lyrics, which sound funny. The laugh in between was very nice and sweet! Musician Bharadwaj brings a stylish tune for it; the video shows the Australia, the beach, childish way of acting was beautiful ;)

Un Parvayil Paithiyam anean… form Something Something is a sweet romantic song. It starts with a slow guitar tune and the guitar plays a nice work throughout the song, my fav Karthik singed it well with fast & slow which fits the music. The picture of this song was a cute one, Trisha smile is what I liked much.

Yedhedho Ennangal Vanthu…. from Pattiyal is a sweet melody which welfare and relax my mind from Yuvan’s wonderful music. Yuvan also tries his voice and it too comes out in an adorable manner. Here was another cute one, which have nice dance movements from Bharath and Pooja.

Pakaatha Enna Pakaatha… from Aaru was a song, which was singed, in a sad situation when the hero wound his girls mind and feels her love memories. Devi Sri Prasad’s slow music and Tippu’s voice makes a warm sense. Trisha in a sari with open hair looks so nice, it craves me to watch it again & again.

Idhu Enna Pudhu Unarvo….. form Chitiram Peasuthadi. Like the lyrics, it gives me a new feeling whenever I enjoy this song, which runs less than 2 minutes. Manju Haridas gives voice to this, as new Music Director Sundar C. Babu, set by tune for this film were all songs are super hits. When I was alone I like to listen to this songs, and it brings a refresh inside me.

Dhavanipotta Deepavali… in the film Sandai Kozhi is folk with classic music by Yuvan is gives a familiar feel. The voice of Vijay Yesudas was a good choice. Meera Jasmine’s prank acting was an additional pulse, sits me to adore it.

Boomiku Velichamelam… from Dishoom was poetic style of song; which attracts me here is the matured voice of Gayathri great voice loved it. I liked this song at first time listen it in radio; it ‘s really a different one. Vijay Anthony brings a romantic style of tunes, to this Hot Song!

Aah Adi va… form Imsai Arasan. It should be appreciated to see the brave of composers to set tune of 50’s and 60’s in this time of modern style of music. The good thing was its not a remake song, it has its original lyrics in 50’s tune. The second half of the female voice given to this song was soothing, I keep on repeating the second half much times. Sabesh & Murali these two hands created a respect for the old songs in our young’s.

Here comes another fav Hoty song from Vattraram, Mudhal Mudhala… in the way of an englsih song with the instruments that bring some peppy beats for the romantic lyrics. This year I have been attracted by some female voice, on the list here is another its Janani, sweet voice!! This song was picturesque in the backdrop of a beach side resort, with arya and keerat in colorful costumes.

Chitheraiyil Enna Varum…. With pure Tamil lyrics from Sivappathigaram was the best one for Tamil lovers like me. I adore the lyrics, with very soft music, but it has some beats that disturb the beautiful pronunciation of the lyrics by Swarnalatha.

Veyyilodu Vilayadi Veyyilodu Uravadi…. From Veyyil was a beautiful song with the countryside children’s fun in the Sunshine. The lyrics, the children’s activities take us to our childhood memories. Another song from the same album is Kadhal Nerupin Nadanam... was a bright duet, which took in short and cross streets in south Tamil Nadu. The song has an art in the picturesque and the lyrics.

This year there was also some mass song in my likes. The Asai Dhosai... song from Paramasivan was one among in the list. I listen to this first time in SunTv’s Supthasurangal where a kid sings, after that I was searching for this song, and found, it was from paramasivan. The voice of Priya Subramani was a very different and gusto, it really rocks. Have seen the video twice, it is an item dance in prison. I also adore a remake song this year; it’s the Ennadi Muniyamma... from Vathiyar and there are many film songs I have enjoyed this year, but I can’t written all here. Last year we had nice songs to adore, it can be peppy, melody. Rap, remake or anything. Even, year-end also we listen to the new release album, which would be good songs for 2007. Wish to listen more good songs in this year.

New Year in my home

Had a little celebration with family on the New Year night. Some cousins come in the evening and went before we cut cake to welcome the year. I expected them to be with me, esp. it would be nice time if my sister present on the night. My lovely cousin and me cut the cake and said happy New Year;got wishes from friends and relatives. The New Year day was nothing special, just view the televisions. I like the show of Dream girl 2007, most of them prefer for actor Asin, but I think Shirya would be the top actress of the year, as she paired with Super Star, but my wishes is Trisha should be the dream girl of the year:D. let me know whom do u prefer as dream girl 2007?

Last year the flat mates celebrates the New Year on the terrace, as we were new that time, they dint invite us, this time non-were celebrated and many were left some were. Next time I wish to spent the New Year night in beaches to have fun by watching others celebrations and firework on the sky.

Cruel Year End

Last week and year-end was not normal, it’s very shocking and felt cruel. The chennai was shocked when police found an 11-year-old kid’s body from bushy place on Wednesday. Some unknown kidnapped Aravind who was in his 6th, two days before his body was found with cut fell on his face. In the enquiry comes the secret behind the killing of Aravind, which was unbelievable. Its 3 kids below 18 were arrested on Friday for kidnapping and killing him cruelly. The reason said by police was the 3 kids whom were 16 and 15 kidnapped the boy to demand his parents 5 lakhs to celebrate the New Year and buy cell phones. What really make shock are these 3 kids were best friend of Aravind. Now there futures were questioned? The three were in the prison and the enquiry continues… before it end’s here comes another cruel which shakes the whole nation.

It’s a long time complains that many children’s in Nethari village of Noida (Uttar Pradesh) were missing for last three years. But non-can’t find where they gone, and complaints were registered in police. Some days back the people in the village Odours a corpse smell from the drainage canal, when the police dig the roadside canal they found many bones, and organs of young children. Totally 30 decomposed organs and bodies of children were captured and sent to postmodern. These bodies were captured outside the compound of a businessman Mohinder Singh Pandher house. The police have arrested him and enquired about the children and he accepts that he only rapping and killings the children and throw it in the canal. This incident has marked the country very flurry. The people and relatives who lose their children are in angry and they protest and destroy the Mohinder’s house, the village was flurry and every day there was violence breaking the police were heap for security. See where our country is going…. Our futures are killed for sexual abuse. The sleeping govt. should be fast on this case and the accused should be punishes severely. Where this village was protesting for the killing of innocent children. The world is protesting for Saddam’s capital punishment.

The American army, which captured the Iraq in 2003 on war, removed the Saddam’s government and brings the nation to its control. There after the country faces bad times of continues suicide bomb blast, every day violent, lose of lives has become normal. In this time US found Saddam from a pit and brought the old cases on him to investigate. With the favour of opposite religious parties the US also brings a new government, which was under the control of US (I think). In the month’s long investigation the Iraq court gives him capital punishment for killing 148 Shiya people in 1982. The punishment was conformed by special court on Nov 26th and he was handover to the Iraq government. In the situation of Bakrid, all hoped that he would not be put under the rope, but in the unexpected time they hanged him early morning on 30th Dec. This news very shocking to every one, with in minutes the Iraq started to faces continues of bomb blast and violent to its high. When the news spreads many people contempt the US cruel act and many places had protest and violence. I too think it’s an urgent decision by US govt. and the investigation has not done properly on the case and the only aim of the cases is to hang him. What happen now nothing has changed except the increased violence, I think the capital punishment should not be given to him; he is a President to million people. Why the US had war on Iraq? To find the deadly weapons. Did they found? Non. The purpose of the war is to destroy Saddam’s power and kill. Why do we need an UN security counsel when they are useless where there are million peoples were dieing. The US should be controlled; it’s a cruelty! Let Saddam’s soul get peace in the heaven.

We all hope and pray at least in this year the violence and cruel acts against human and all livings should be decrease.

## Today morning I read a news that a child from Islamabad was hanged by itself while playing like hanging, after seeing the Saddam’s punishment on the Television. See how the punishment has pressed in the kids mind. The channels should try to avoid these scenes on vision!
